New to FBC?
We can't wait to meet you!

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions you might have about our church. If there's anything else you want to know, please contact us.

πŸ•’ Service Details

Our worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. but you are welcome to come earlier and join us for Sunday School (small group Bible study) at 9:30 a.m. We have classes for all ages.

Our services are typically 80-90 minutes.

Each Sunday might look a bit different depending on what's happening, but generally our services follow this pattern:

  • Time of prayer led by our pastor or church leader
  • Scriptural call to worship
  • Congregational singing
  • Welcome from one of our staff members
  • Fellowship/greeting time
  • More congregational singing
  • Offering
  • Special music from our worship choir or small group
  • Kids dismissed to children's church
  • Sermon from our pastor
  • Response song
  • Announcements
  • Closing song

Whatever you feel comfortable in! You will see everything from ties to t-shirts here on Sunday morning.

No. We do encourage you to bring a Bible if you have one, as we don't typically project the sermon text on the screen, but we have Bibles available in the pew racks for you to use. If you would like your own copy of God's Word, just ask at the Information Desk in the lobby. We would love to provide you one!

πŸ“ Location & Parking

400 S Madison St in Strafford, Missouri. Just south of downtown, across the railroad tracks.

We have a large parking lot with plenty of space available. No parking spot is too far from the building, so don't expect a long walk!

Yes. We have several designated spaces marked for guests close to the building.

Yes. Our building is all on one level with easy entry, no stairs, and accessible restrooms. There are also marked disabled parking spots immediately in front of the main doors.

πŸ’¬ Beliefs & Worship Style

As a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, our statement of faith is the Baptist Faith & Message 2000. You can read the full text here. If you have any questions about specific beliefs and practices of our church, our pastor would love to speak with you and provide you with more information.

We consider our music style to be "intergenerational," meaning that people of all ages and stages of life will be able to lift their voices together to worship our holy God. On a given Sunday, we might sing anything from a great hymn of the faith written hundreds of years ago to a simple song of worship composed last month. We use a variety of vocal and instrumental groups, including worship choir, praise team, rhythm section, and orchestra.

While we do take up a financial offering during each service for our members and regular attenders to support the ministries and mission efforts of our church, it is entirely voluntary. You are certainly welcome to give if you feel led, but do not feel obligated. We are just glad you are here!

Absolutely not. We welcome everyone to be a part of our services on Sundays, regardless of where you are on your faith journey.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Kids & Students

We provide loving and educational childcare for children from birth through 3 years old during Sunday School and the worship service. The check-in desk for the early childhood area is located in the south corridor of the worship center.

During Sunday School, we offer engaging classes for all ages, from birth to 12th grade. We then invite everyone from age 4 up into the first part of our worship service as we sing together. Shortly before the sermon, all kids, age 4 to 2nd grade, are dismissed to the south corridor (past the nursery) for Children’s Church—a time of Bible study, music, and fun activities designed just for them!

Yes! Our children's classes take place in a single hallway behind a check-in desk. We also have security teams regularly monitoring the building on Sundays. All of our children's volunteers are background-checked and screened before they are allowed to serve.

Absolutely! While our children's activities are open and available to them, you are always welcome to keep them with you in the service.

πŸ’‘ Next Steps & Connection

The easiest way to connect with others in our church is to join a Sunday School class. We offer age-graded classes through 12th grade and a variety of options for adults to choose from. Our helpful greeters and Information Desk team can help direct you to a class on Sunday morning or feel free to email the church office for more information ahead of time.

While certain volunteer opportunities such as serving in children's ministry have certain requirements, there are always entry points for you to jump in and serve! Watch our social media, website, weekly bulletin, and FirstUpdate for current needs.

Of course! We would love to meet and get to know you and your family. Check out the staff page for contact info and reach out to us anytime.

Nope, just show up!

Every class will look a bit different, but you can expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere and engaging Bible study. Some classes use a specific curriculum with printed books that change quarterly, while others use a video/discussion format. Feel free to try out different classes and see where you feel most at home. Depending on the class and the day, there might even be something delicious to eat!

πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Miscellaneous

There's no better time to come back than this Sunday! We promise to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Absolutely. Bring your questions and doubts. We would love an opportunity to talk with you about Jesus, what He's done in our lives, what He can do in yours, and how we can help you.

Yes! We frequently have fellowship events and activities. We also organize Supper Sixes groups, rotating groups of individuals and couples that gather once a month. Just watch the church calendar, weekly bulletin, and FirstUpdate email to see what's coming up.

Just reach out to us! Check out the staff page for individual email addresses or email the church office and we'll be in touch!
